Soulistic Information
Soulistic one of several sub-brands of pet food produced by Weruva. Weruva is an established pet food brand that was founded in 2006 by David and Stacie Forman.

Much like most of Weruva’s brand’s and recipes, Soulistic has a strong focus on wet/canned cat food.
This wet cat food is produced in facilities in Thailand, much like other Weruva food. This is somewhat controversial, with many pet owners be cautious of manufacturing outside of North America.
However, Soulistic and Weruva will argue that these manufacturing facilities are state of the art, and by being in Thailand, the fish ingredients most commonly found in wet cat food can be sourced nearby.
Soulistic cat food is a Petco exclusive brand which is quite unusual for a brand not directly owned by the store. Because of this exclusivity, you can only purchase Soulistic from retail Petco stores or from their website.
However, Soulistic appears to be available on Amazon, which contradicts this exclusivity.
Soulistic Product Range
Soulistic has a large product range of cat food recipes; however, all of these recipes are wet/canned, and they do not produce any dry cat food.
All of the wet/canned recipes within this range are grain-free, and Soulistic does not produce any grain-inclusive food. There are several varieties of wet cat food on offer, including Pate recipes, Chunky recipes, and more.
Soulistic does offer some specialized recipes, including several for Kittens; however, they do not produce other speciality recipes such as those for allergies or senior cats.
Soulistic Nutrition
Given that Soulistic exclusively produces wet/canned cat food, it will not come as a surprise that their recipes offer impressive nutritional profiles.
Soulistic recipes offer nutrition that is above-average when compared to other wet cat food recipes from other brands. This above-average nutrition includes high proportions of animal or fish-based protein and fat.

High-Quality Meat & Fish Ingredients

Soulistic utilizes a relatively large range of meat and fish ingredients in its recipes, including the above. All of these meat and fish ingredients are high-quality additions to cat food and can be dense sources of protein and fat.
Many of these ingredients are industry favorites for wet cat food recipes, including Chicken, Turkey, Salmon, and Tuna. These ingredients are so popular as they are easy to source and can provide favorable nutrition.
Other Notable Ingredients
Pumpkin is found in many of Soulistic’s recipes in small quantities. Pumpkin is regularly used like this in cat food recipes and is best known as a reliable source of dietary fiber.
Fiber can be an important component of the diet of some cats to ensure regular digestion and stools. However, not all cats react well to Pumpkin.
In addition to its fiber, Pumpkin can also contribute additional nutrition in the form of carbohydrates and beneficial micronutrients like Beta Carotene.
Some of Soulistic’s recipes utilize small portions of Tapioca Starch. While not utilized by Soulistic, Potato Starch is extremely similar to Tapioca Starch and is regularly found in cat food recipes.
Starch ingredients like these can be used as sources of carbohydrates; however, in this case, it appears that it is being used as a binding agent to help hold the food together rather than a nutritional component.

While the bulk of Soulistic’s recipes is made up of meat and fish ingredients, some recipes include a smaller portion of Dried Egg.
Eggs are an incredibly dense source of nutrition and can provide a mix of protein, fat, carbohydrates, and beneficial vitamins and minerals.
Eggs are extremely underutilized in the industry, and it is refreshing to see a brand make consistent use of them.
Sunflower Oil is a vegetable oil that is not a common addition to pet food but is used by some brands. Sunflower Oil is an extremely dense source of fat and can be used to supplement low fat levels.
However, in this case, Soulistic uses Sunflower Oil as another binding agent to help hold the wet cat food together in a consistent texture and appearance.

Last but not least, Soulistic utilizes many of the popular gum ingredients found in wet pet food. These include Locust Bean Gum, Carrageenan, Guar Gum, and Xanthan Gum.
Once again, these gum ingredients are used as binding agents to help hold the constituents of wet cat food together in uniform consistency.

Soulistic Animal Testing
At this time, we have no information on what type of animal testing or feed trials that Soulistic participates in.
Many smaller brands avoid disclosing information related to their animal testing or feed trials as they fear customer backlash.
We strongly believe that invasive or laboratory-style testing of animals is a cruel and outdated practice and one which we hope will be eliminated in the near future.
Soulistic Recalls
Based on our research (FDA, AVMA, DogFoodAdvisor), Soulistic has not undergone any recalls in its past and is, therefore, a recall-free cat food brand.
However, some of Weruva’s other brands, such as B.F.F, have been recalled in the past. This recall was due to insufficient levels of thiamine.
Despite this recall-free record from Soulistic, we encourage all cat owners to be vigilant of any future recalls from Soulistic or any other pet food brand.
Best of Soulistic
Shrimply Divine Review
Shrimply Divine is one of Soulistic’s Original recipes, which feature thick cuts of high-quality meat and fish ingredients, which in this case is Tuna and Shrimp.
Tuna is the core of the recipe and provides the bulk of the fish-based protein and fat. In this case, this correlates to 10% protein and 1.5% fat which is heavily weighted towards protein which could make it ideal for cats who are susceptible to weight gain.
However, the inclusion of Shrimp makes the flavor and palatability of this recipe far more appealing and is a relatively unusual addition to cat food.
Outside of these two ingredients, there are very few other notable ingredients, with the only exceptions being Sunflower Oil, Locust Bean Bum, and Carrageenan.
As we mentioned earlier, all of these ingredients are being utilized by Soulistic as binding agents to help hold the food together in a consistent texture and appearance.
