Nutrisca Product Range
Dog Food
Nutrisca has a tiny range of dog food recipes. This range only has dry dog food recipes and wet/canned recipes.
There are no age-specific or size-specific recipes from Nutrisca, such as those for puppies or large breed dogs.
Cat Food
Nutrisca’s cat food range is slightly larger than its dog food range and consists of both dry cat food and wet/canned cat food.
Once again, Nutrisca does not produce age-specific cat food such as recipes for kittens or senior cats.
Nutrisca Nutrition
Dog Food
Given its low price point, Nutrisca dog food recipes provide surprisingly impressive nutrition.

Nutrisca Ingredients
High-Quality Meat & Fish Ingredients
- Chicken
- Salmon
- Tuna
- Lamb
Nutrisca uses a small range of meat and fish ingredients in its recipes. This range includes industry favorites like Chicken and Salmon.
These ingredients are so popular among manufacturers as they are easy to source, affordable, and can provide excellent nutrition that is high in protein and fat.
Other Notable Ingredients
Nutrisca uses two of the most common legume ingredients in its recipes, which are Peas and Chickpeas.
These legume ingredients provide carbohydrates, fiber, and a high proportion of protein for a plant-based ingredient.
However, there have been links in recent years between the high use of legumes in pet food and canine heart disease.
While this link is not definitive, it is concerning, and many dog owners are choosing to switch brands and recipes.

Menhaden Fish Meal is a regular addition to pet food recipes, especially premium and mid-range recipes.
Menhaden Fish are harvested for their oil, but the fish meal leftover after this processing is extremely nutritious, which is why pet food companies choose to utilize it. Read more about Menhaden Fish Meal in Menhaden Fish Meal in Dog Food.
Nutrisca recipes make use of Flaxseed as a minor ingredient. Flaxseed is a popular addition to pet food recipes thanks to its high levels of the Omega 3 Fatty Acids.
These fatty acids are believed to provide several health benefits to dogs and cats. Learn more about Flaxseed and its benefits in Flaxseed In Dog Food.
Chicken Fat is added to many brand’s recipes, including Nutrisca. Chicken Fat is used to improve the flavor of pet food recipes as well as boost the level of animal-based fat.
Chicken Fat is chosen as it is affordable and easy to source. Read more about Chicken Fat in Chicken Fat In Dog Food.
Alfalfa is included in pet food recipes in tiny quantities because of the beneficial vitamins and minerals it can provide.
These vitamins and minerals are believed to provide health benefits to dogs and cats. Learn more about these benefits in Alfalfa In Dog Food.
Nutrisca Animal Testing
At this time, we have no information on whether Nutrisca participates in invasive or laboratory testing of animals.
We strongly believe that laboratory or invasive testing of animals is a cruel and outdated practice. We hope that in the future, it will be eliminated.
Nutrisca Recalls
Based on our research (FDA, AVMA, DogFoodAdvisor), Nutrisca is not a recall-free brand.
We always ask that pet owners are vigilant of any future recalls of Nutrisca or any other pet food brand.

Lamb and Chickpea Review
Check Price On Chewy
As we mentioned earlier, Nutrisca has three dry dog food recipes available, with Lamb, Chicken, and Salmon being each recipe’s core ingredient.
We are a particular fan of their Lamb and Chickpea formula. While it does not offer quite as high a proportion of protein and fat as the Chicken recipe, its ingredient quality appears to be significantly superior.
This superiority is as the recipe contains a much smaller proportion of pea by-products such as Pea Protein and Pea Starch.
These legume by-products are considered by many to be lower-quality ingredients. They are often used to inflate the protein levels in dog food without adding additional meat and fish content.
Because there are little of these by-products present, the formula instead uses whole vegetable ingredients like Peas and Chickpeas. These provide carbohydrates and fiber.
