TruDog is a small dog food brand that specializes in freeze-dried and dehydrated dog food. They compete with several other much larger brands in this niche space, such as The Honest Kitchen and Ziwi Peak.

The brand was founded by Lori R. Taylor after her dog passed away at an early age. Lori discovered that the food she was feeding her dog was not a dog’s intended diet and was in fact, highly processed food.

For those of you curious where TruDog food is made, from our research, some of TruDog’s recipes are made in the USA, including their Feed Me, Boost Me, and Forty Me products.

However, not all of their recipes are made in the USA, and their Rawgo recipes are produced in New Zealand.

However, while many dog owners fear food produced outside of the United States, this should not be interpreted as a negative trait as safety and quality standards in New Zealand are extremely high.

TruDog can be purchased online from TruDog’s website, and the brand offers subscription-style services to pet owners who want to regularly purchase their products.

At this time, you can not purchase TruDog from any physical retail pet food stores or from some of the larger pet food websites like Chewy or Amazon.

TruDog Product Range

As mentioned earlier, TruDog specializes in the production of freeze-dried and dehydrated dog food and they have a moderately sized range of both of these niche dog food types.

However, TruDog also produce some other products including dog food toppers, treats, and supplements.

Given the specialty recipes they produce, TruDog does not have any food specifically for older dogs or puppies but many of their recipes are suitable for these age groups.

In addition to these core meat and fish ingredients, TruDog’s Freeze-Dried recipes utilize some organ meat ingredients like Tripe, Lung, Liver, Heart, and Kidney.

At this time, we have no information on whether TruDog participates in invasive or laboratory testing of animals.

Many smaller pet food brands avoid disclosing detailed information on their testing or trials as many fear backlash from their customers.

We strongly believe that laboratory or invasive testing of animals is a cruel and outdated practice. We hope that in the future, it will be eliminated.
