Nutramax Laboratories Information
Nutramax Laboratories is a large supplement brand that produces human and pet supplements for a variety of health issues.
This combination of human and pet supplements is extremely unique and not mirrored throughout the industry.
The pet supplement industry is becoming more and more competitive by the year, and Nutramax is in a fierce battle with other sellers like PetHonesty and Zesty Paws.
Nutramax was founded in 1992, which makes it one of the oldest pet supplement companies. The company is currently based in Lancaster, South Carolina but also has facilities in Maryland. Their facilities are used for research, development, and manufacturing.
As we mentioned above, Nutramax’s facilities are in the United States, and none of their production takes place overseas.
Nutramax products can be bought from a variety of sources but are usually stocked by veterinary practices as they are focused on very specific health issues.
However, for those whose local vet does not stock Nutramax can purchase them online from the popular pet food website Chewy.
Nutramax Laboratories Product Range
Dogs
As we mentioned previously, Nutramax Laboratories is a supplement company and does not produce any food products.
Their range of supplements is very expansive and covers a huge range of health issues, including Joint Health, Liver Health, Gastrointestinal Health, Behavioral Health, Immune Health, Skin & Coat Health, Dental Health, and Urinary Health.
Many of these supplements are available for various sizes of dogs, including small breed, medium breed, and large breed dogs, such as the below Dauquin Joint Health Supplement.
Cats
Similar to the above, Nutramax has a large range of cat supplements available from its various sub-brands. However, this range is slightly smaller than its dog supplement range.
The range includes supplements for Joint Health, Liver Health, Gastrointestinal Health, Behavioral Health, Immune Health, Skin & Coat Health, and Dental Health.
Unlike the dog range, most of these cat supplements have a one size fits all model and do not have size-specific versions.
Nutramax Laboratories Nutrition
Dogs
Given that Nutramax is a supplement company, the portion of the core nutrients (protein, fat, & carbohydrates) is not relevant, and instead, the focus is on the level of beneficial vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients.
Examples of this include Glucosamine and the Omega 3 Fatty Acids, which are used throughout the industry for their beneficial properties.
If you’d like to learn more about canine nutrition, be sure to check out our Dog Food Guide.
Cats
While the levels of protein and fat are extremely important to cats, the proportions found in Nutramax supplements is not as they are not the base of a cat’s diet.
Once again, Nutramax cat supplements include a range of beneficial micronutrients such as Glucosamine and the Omega Fatty Acids.
We’d recommend reading the description of the specific supplement you are considering for more information.

Nutramax Laboratories Ingredients
High-Quality Meat & Fish Ingredients
- N/A
Given that Nutramax is a supplement company, its products do not contain meat and fish ingredients as pet food does.
Other Notable Ingredients
Many pet supplement companies choose to include recognizable ingredients such as Flaxseed and Alfalfa, but Nutramax takes a different approach and uses synthesized or chemical sources of many of these micronutrients.
For this reason, there is little to discuss when it comes to their ingredient choices.
Nutramax Laboratories Animal Testing
We can not find any information on whether Nutramax Laboratories participates in any form of animal testing for its products.
Many smaller pet food and supplement brands do not perform large-scale testing or trials and avoid disclosing this information as it could be perceived negatively.
We strongly believe that laboratory or invasive testing of animals is a cruel and outdated practice. We hope that in the future, it will be eliminated.
Nutramax Laboratories Recalls
Based on our research (FDA, AVMA, DogFoodAdvisor), we have no information that Nutramax Laboratories has ever been involved in a recall.
That being said, Nutramax is a supplement company, and pet supplements are very rarely recalled, which makes this record a little less impressive.
Nevertheless, consumers should always be vigilant of any future recalls of Nutramax Laboratories or any other pet supplement brand to ensure your pet remains healthy and safe.
However, while Nutramax has not issued any recalls of its products, it was recently forced to issue a statement warning consumers that counterfeiters were selling fraudulent versions of their products.
What shocked many was that these counterfeit versions of their products weren’t sold from niche websites or stores, and many were sold on Amazon.
The company is currently pursuing legal action against these counterfeiters but wanted to ensure that their customers were properly warned as they can not guarantee the safety of these supplements, and they could be harmful.

Cosequin Joint Health Supplement Review
ㅤ
Given that many dogs are living far longer than they did in days gone by, the need for ways to combat joint health problems has been growing, and the above Cosequin supplement from Nutramax is one of the most popular joint health supplements.
The supplement comes in the form of a soft chew with an appealing taste which can make it far easier to administer than some other supplements or medication.
In regards to beneficial inclusions, this supplement includes MSM, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and the Omega 3 Fatty Acids, which are all popular additions to the diets of dogs with joint problems.
Given the type of supplements that Nutramax produces, we’d recommend discussing this with your vet to understand if it is a good fit for your dog.

Is there a recall for dog chewable or a lawsuits as Chewy did not have it. Last time was Hills l/d?
Why is Denamarin for Medium dogs not available anywhere on the internet? Is there a recall, is it not being produced anymore? Apparently, according to some online pet meds, there is no known date when this will become available. Is Nutanax, the laboratory that makes it, going out of business or stop making this medication for pets that really need it?
