Arden Grange Information
Arden Grange is an established pet food brand based in the United Kingdom. They were founded in 1996 by Graham and Wendy Stephens and focus on the hypoallergenic pet food market. Graham and Wendy had notable experience in the dog breeding and show space.
Arden Grange recipes are produced in the United Kingdom; however, it is not clear where their production facility is. The brand was originally based in Sussex, but this may not be the case anymore.
Arden Grange is widely available for purchase across the United Kingdom at select pet food stores. You can also purchase their recipes directly from their website or from several large pet food websites like Amazon, Pets At Home, and Fetch.
Arden Grange Product Range
Arden Grange has a moderate product range of dog food recipes. This range mostly consists of dry dog food recipes, but there are a small number of wet/canned dog food recipes available.
Arden Grange produces recipes for several age-groups such as puppies, junior dogs, adult dogs, and senior dogs.
They also produce recipes for varying sizes, such as small or toy breed dogs and large breed dogs.
Arden Grange’s cat food range is notably smaller than their dog food range and only consists of four dry cat food recipes.
However, each of these recipes is unique and aimed at a different cross-section of cats such as Kittens, those with dietary sensitivities, and those looking to avoid weight gain.
Arden Grange Nutrition
The nutrition provided by Arden Grange dog food recipes varies but is generally above-average.
This above-average nutritional profile consists of above-average proportions of protein and fat and below-average proportions of carbohydrates.
This diet is suitable for most dogs, including those that are more active. However, most recipes may not be sufficient for those dogs with very high activity levels, such as working dogs.
That being said, Arden Grange does produce some specialty formulas for high activity dogs that are better suited.
Below is an example of the nutrition provided by an Arden Grange dry dog food recipe.
The nutrition offered by Arden Grange cat food recipes is similar to their dog food range is typically above-average when compared to other cat food brands.
It is critical that cats consume a diet that is high in animal or fish-based protein and fat. This is as they are obligate carnivores. Cats should not eat a diet high in plant matter.

Arden Grange Ingredients
High-Quality Meat & Fish Ingredients
Arden Grange uses a moderate range of meat and fish ingredients in its recipes. All of the above are considered high-quality additions and can provide protein and fat for dogs and cats.
It should be noted that Arden Grange uses Pork in some of its recipes, which is quite unusual. Most pet food brands avoid Pork even though it is relatively low cost and nutritious.
In addition, Arden Grange does not use any unusual or unique meat or fish ingredients in its recipes, such as Rabbit, Kangaroo, or Venison. These are sometimes found in recipes for dogs with severe allergies or sensitivities.
You can read more about the use of these ingredients in the below articles.
Other Notable Ingredients
Arden Grange’s primary ingredients outside of meat and fish are the grain ingredients – Rice and Maize. Grain ingredients are controversial additions to pet food recipes, with many pet owners refusing to use grain-inclusive recipes.
However, there are others that are strong supporters and exclusively use recipes with grains from brands like Purina and Royal Canin. The grains used by Arden Grange are not preferred by many who would rather see whole grains like Brown Rice or Oats.
Despite this, these two ingredients can provide a mix of carbohydrates, plant-based protein, and fiber.
However, some of Arden Grange’s recipes use Sweet Potatoes and Potatoes as a source of carbohydrates instead of grains. Starch ingredients such as these are extremely dense sources of carbohydrates, which is why it is important that their portion size is tightly controlled.
Beet Pulp is used by a huge number of pet food brands in small quantities. It is added as a source of soluble fiber, which can be important to some dogs to ensure they keep regular digestion and stools. Outside of its fiber content, Beet Pulp provides little nutrition.
You can read more about Beet Pulp in our article Dried Beet Pulp In Dog Food.
Arden Grange Animal Testing
We can not find any information on whether Arden Grange participates in animal testing for its products.
We strongly believe that laboratory or invasive testing of animals is a cruel and outdated practice. We hope that in the future, it will be eliminated.
Arden Grange Recalls
Nevertheless, consumers should always be vigilant of any future recalls of Arden Grange or any other brand.

Best of Arden Grange
Premium – Rich In Fresh Chicken & Rice Review
While some of Arden Grange’s recipes provide nutrition that is not impressive, the above Premium recipe is one of the best and has nutrition that would be classed as above-average when compared to other dog food brands.
This impressive nutrition is thanks to a large portion of Chicken and Chicken Meal. The Chicken Meal is especially important as it has had the bulk of its moisture removed, making it an incredibly dense ingredient.
The recipe then uses a mix of Rice and Potatoes to provide carbohydrates and fiber.
Partners Adult Fresh Lamb With Rice Review
Wet dog food such as the above from Arden Grange can be expensive when compared to dry dog food, but it is an appreciated treat for many dogs thanks to its rich flavor and texture.
The above recipe focuses on Lamb, with it making up 70% of the contents of the formula. This Lamb provides a satisfactory proportion of protein and fat that would be suitable for the majority of dogs.
The only other ingredient present in a significant quantity is Rice, which provides a small portion of carbohydrates and fiber.
Adult Grain Free With Fresh Chicken & Potato Review
Arden Grange only has a very small range of cat food recipes, but from this range, we’d recommend the above Grain Free Adult as the best all-purpose recipe.
The recipe utilizes a large portion of Chicken and Chicken Meal, which make up the core of the recipe. These Chicken ingredients supply a satisfactory proportion of protein and fat.
Looking past its Chicken content, the recipe includes a portion of Potatoes and Pea Starch. These two ingredients provide carbohydrates and some fiber.
